September 1999
is the latest release of WinDOT, The Pipeline Safety Encyclopedia
for Windows. Several new items and enhancements have been added
with this release.
The first thing
you may notice is that we are referring to WinDOT as a "Pipeline
Safety Encyclopedia". We are continuing to expand the reference
material and standards that are available and the program is fast
becoming a comprehensive "encyclopedia" of pipeline related material.
This name change also helps reflect our commitment to maintaining
WinDOT as the most comprehensive source regulatory information
available.
What's
new in this release!
- New search facility - Find++
has enhanced Boolean search capability. This is even better than
the previous Find+ and much better than the standard Microsoft
search
- Annotations are now operational
in the CFR's. Please check the Help/How Do I? tab in the
WinDOT opening screen for more information. This annotation
facility is a custom solution which avoids the problems associated
with the previous standard Microsoft approach. DO NOT USE
the standard Microsoft annotation facility. Annotations made using
the Microsoft facility will not carry over across new WinDOT
releases.
- National Fuel Gas Code NFPA 54,
ANSI Z 223.1 is now included with the gas modules at no charge.
This Code offers general criteria for the installation and operation
of gas piping and gas equipment on consumers' premises. It should
prove useful to research requirements for installation, inspection,
and general operation of gas piping and appliances.
- NTSB Safety Recommendations
can be found in the "Laws" section and are included at no extra
charge
- Final Actions: These have
been extensively re-indexed for easier reference. Tell us your
thoughts on indexing.
- Additional Technical Standards API
1102, Steel Pipelines Crossing Railroads and Highways and
API 1107, Pipeline Maintenance and Welding Practices are
now optionally available.
- The Mexican Comision Reguladora
de Energia, Normas Oficiales are also optionally available
